Mea Culpa
Hello out there. My how time flies. Imagine allowing three months to go by before posting something on my site. Life has been going along more or less as normal. We got through the Saint Joseph Ballet concert season, finished school, and now are enjoying the summer. I still wake the Prince up at 5:30 a.m. or so, just to keep him on his toes. Don’t want him going soft during the summer.
The Prince is on a diet; he says he wants to lose 20 lbs. That is more than I weigh! I have been trying to encourge him to take De De on walks. She loves to go on walks, while I am sort of lukewarm to them. I don’t know why, probably it has something to do with De De’s excessive exuberance. Sometimes he drags me along with them, and once I get out there I do actuallty enjoy a walk. But don’t tell the Prince that, or he’ll shanghai me more often. Usually when he says the word “walk” I make myself scarce and that is enough to get me out of it.
Mama is working long hours. I try to accompany her as much as possible to make it easier for her. De De usually comes along but with Jane home (school’s out, remember?) she tends to stay downstairs with Jane . So I have the duty with Mama, which is fine. Mama and I get along great on our own, and I don’t have to worry about De De getting run over by Mama’s chair, which is always a potential disaster if De De is around. Jane calls her De De the daredevil dog. That is for sure! She never pays attention to her personal safety at all, whereas I am all about making sure I am safe. That’s just me…
Here is a cute picture of De De that the Prince took a while back.
I like to call it “De De in her Element” because it was taken in the Prince’s Honda Element. Funny!
Am I A Good Girlfriend?
Hi girls (and guys),
The other day I answered a ‘girlfriend survey” and I guess it was pretty popular with people out there because my web traffic went way up. Who knew there were so many people interested in girlfriend surveys. Anyway, one of the searches that led people to iruffles.com was “Am I a Good Girlfriend”. Interesting that so many people are searching the Internet to find out if they are good girlfriends. So without further ado, here is my “Am I a good girlfriend” survey. Go ahead and take it and then send it on to some of your other friends, and we will see what comes of it. i just made this up on the spur of the moment, and remember, I am a dog, so your results may vary. But here goes:

Happy Easter Everyone!
It’s Easter Sunday, and that means a beautiful Easter Basket for Jane, and a ridiculous set of rabbit ears for me. I am able to pick up TV stations in Tijuana with these!
We are heading over to Grandma Slaughter’s for Easter Brunch, then on to G&G Mac Iver’s for Easter Dinner. Just my kind of day, a real food fest!

Beatbox
The Prince downloaded a new application called Weepr (www.weepr.com) that lets you create your own beats. The prince created one and if you want to hear it click on the box below where it says “Ruffie’s Beatbox”. I’m not all that crazy about it but the Prince says it’s “of the moment”, whatever that means. Give a listen and leave a comment on what you think about the Prince’s foray into music production. I told him not to quit his day job.

Happy Holidays
Hello all of my adoring fans. It has been a while since I posted anything here. So busy with the holidays you know. De De and I had a very merry Christmas. The family bought us some Christmas collars with sleigh bells on them. We made a nice jingling sound wherever we went. Today De De and I were enjoying the great weather by sunning ourselves out on the chaise lounges in the yard. Here’s a shot of us:
We hope you all are having a very nice holiday season. Much love, Ruffles & De De
Now This Is A Pack!
As my faithful readers know, my prime directive is "Keep the Pack Together". Historically this meant me herding three humans around, which is fine (one makes do), but now I’ve got a real pack to keep together, as this photo will demonstrate. Here we have DeDe, Pepper (Uncle Don and Aunt Gail’s popular pug, who is visiting for a long weekend) and yours truly. This is what I call a PACK! Not that I don’t still enjoy herding the humans around… But I am reminded of that Steely Dan lyric "Sharing the things we know and love with those of our kind". Sorry, I’ve got to go get the pack together. Talk to you soon!
Injured Havanese!
Last night the pack got home very late from a Saint Joseph Ballet performance, and DeDe and I were so excited to see everyone. That didn’t last long though because DeDe sprained her leg while greeting everyone.
She was in quite a bit of pain so at about midnight, the entire pack (minus me) went to the 24 hour vet to see what was wrong with DeDe’s leg. The vet was worried that there might be a fracture, but luckily it was just "soft tissue damage", so DeDe came home with a cast on and is getting all the attention now! I have been watching over her to make sure she is OK and that she doesn’t do too much. Here’s a photo of DeDe with her new attention-getter:
