The pack went up to Redondo Beach today (without me!) to visit with their friends Pat, Sean, and Cait.  Here’s a picture of the scene.  IMG_2371

IMG_2178The Prince just loves Brazilian music, so I’m putting up this video of one of his favorite Brazilian pianists, Eliane Elias. She’s really good.  This video is from a music festival in Spain so she’s speaking Spanish in stead of Portuguese.  Here I am doing a little samba to the music.

I’m Not Alone!

I was poking around on the Internet today when I ran across Delphine’s Weblog. It’s written by a “pothound” (a mutt) named Delphine who lives somewhere in the Carribean. She’s really smart and funny.  I left a comment for her so we will see if she comes over to see my little site here.

Hooray!

Clean UP Foundation!

Jane and her friend K.T.P. were going on a nature walk today and noticed a bunch of trash everywhere. Instead of just ignoring, they decided to do something about it. They went home and got a trash bag and filled it up with trash from the trails in our neighborhood. When I go on walks I do notice a few trashy items around; since I’m so close to the ground I see more than most humans do…. Anyway, kudos to Jane and K. They are going to start a foundation to support cleanup efforts in Orange County. It’s going to be called www.cleanupfoundation.org

My Vacation Plans

Here I am sitting on the chaise lounge and thinking about my upcoming vacation to Greece.
I can hardly wait!

Jane taped a flower to my fur which I didn’t really like, but I must admit it makes for a cute picture, doesn’t it?

School’s Out!

Jane got out of school yesterday. Due to the discriminatory anti-dog policies of Carden Hall I am never permitted to attend the “Spring Sing”, but I always hear about how great it is when the pack comes home. Every class sings songs to the parents and friends. I guess it’s kind of a big deal! Here’s a pretty bad photo that the Prince took. Jane is way in the background in sunglasses. I don’t know why the Prince doesn’t take better pictures! Anyway, I am really glad to have school out because now Jane will be home more and I will get to play with her, etc. Also the Prince seems to work at home more when she is around, so that’s good too.

Ah, summertime, and the living is easy!

Prime Directive

Bring the pack together!

The Prince was talking about the “Prime Directive” on Star Trek which has something to do with not interfering with cultures on other planets. Mama said George Bush should have studied that doctrine, and the Prince kind of smirked at that. (They don’t really agree on politics, and if the subject ever comes up, I try to divert everyone’s attention with some cute antics.) Anyway, I was thinking about the Prime Directive of a Havanese, and I think that ours is to
Bring the Pack Together“. Whenever one of the pack comes home, I think it’s really important to go tell the others. The Prince came home tonight and was bringing in the garbage cans, so I went off and told Mama and Jane that he was home by barking my head off. I don’t really know why I think that’s so important, but it is!

Book Group

Ruffles Lying Next to a Bear

The Prince had his book group last night. For some reason I don’t quite understand he is in a book group based in Seattle, whereas we live in Orange County. Kind of strange. I guess he must like the group fairly well! Anyway, I could only hear the Prince’s side of the conversation but it was pretty clear that no one really liked the book, Christine Falls, by Benjamin Black. Everyone seemed to think that Mr. Black/Banville should stick to highbrow literature, which he seems to do pretty well. They all seemed pretty excited about their next book, Netherland, by Joseph O’Neill.  But then I recall they were excited about Christine Falls originally too, and look how they trashed that book. I guess hope springs eternal among humans but is dashed easily.
